Attica—C. Harvey Norman, 83, 306 E. Washington St., Attica, died at 4:08 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 1989, at Community Hospital, Williamsport. He had been in failing health since July and seriously ill two weeks.

  He was born May 18, 1905, near Bedford, the son of Rella O. and Henrietta Donick Norman. He was married Aug. 19, 1930, in Crawfordsville to Irene McDaniel, who preceded him in death Oct. 6, 1973. He remarried Nov. 9, 1974 in Attica to Marguerite Starkey Smith, who survives.

  He formerly lived in Culver, Crawfordsville and Boswell and had been a resident of Attica since 1941.

  He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Indiana State Teachers College. He was principal of the Attica Elementary School for 30 years, retiring in May 1971.

  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Attica, and served on several boards. He was a member of the Attica-Williamsport Rotary Club since 1943 and served as its secretary for 27 years. He was a member of the Indiana Schoolmen’s Club, life member of the Indiana Elementary Principals’ Association and Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association, a member of the National Retired Teachers’ Association and a member of Boswell Masonic Lodge 486 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.   Surviving besides his wife are three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Nolan, Danville, Ind.; Mrs. Mabel Freeman, Pittsboro, and Mrs. Faye Leonard, Plainfield; two brothers, Louis, North Salem, and Harry, Danville, Ind.   Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the First United Methodist Church, Attica. Friends may call one hour prior to services. The Rev. Dr. Earl D. Owens will officiate and entombment will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, Lafayette.    Maus Funeral Home, Attica, is in charge of arrangements. Masonic services were held at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
